At Boss Dental Care in Corpus Christi, TX, we understand that many patients would love straighter smiles, but most are unhappy with the idea of braces. This is why, as a preferred dentist in Corpus Christi, we are so happy to offer ClearCorrect instead. This is a treatment often called invisible braces and/or clear braces, but it does not have a lot in common with that approach to orthodontics. Instead, ClearCorrect uses clear aligners to get the work done, so no one knows you are straightening your teeth, and even more importantly, you don’t need to struggle with the discomfort and challenges of classic braces.
How Does ClearCorrect Work?
For our patients to begin straightening their teeth using ClearCorrect clear aligners, they must first visit our ClearCorrect specialist. This will allow the dental professional to assess the patient’s oral health and then determine whether they are a good candidate for aligners. Most patients with mild to moderate misalignment qualify and this include those with over or underbite issues, and even those with crossbites, gaps, and crooked or overcrowded smiles.
Once you are deemed a candidate, special photos and impressions are made of your smile and everything is forwarded to the specialized lab where three-dimensional models of your teeth and gums are created. From this, specialists make a series of trays that will slowly move your teeth into a better position.
Each patient’s treatment varies on the severity of their condition, but it will usually take between six months and two years for a smile to be fully realigned. All patients begin with what are known as Phase Zero aligners that do not do any work but simply allow a patient to get used to wearing the trays for 22 hours or more each day. After that, they will begin using the aligners, and every two to three weeks will switch to the next in the series.
To use the system is simple. Just wear the tray all day and night, removing it to eat and to properly clean the teeth and gums. Clean the aligners following the specialist’s instructions an.d visit for your regular checkups, and in less than two years, you can have a picture-perfect smile.
